Islewood is an eco-retreat designed with care for nature, people, and the future
The ISLEWOOD project was brought to life by a community of architects, artists, and researchers interested in green building. Our goal is to create a forest retreat without harming nature.
We’re not just building a getaway in New York State, we’re creating a sustainable space for rest, inspiration, and reconnection with nature and ourselves. Our mission is to offer a place that combines comfort, mindfulness, and social responsibility.
ISLEWOOD is an attempt to create a self-sustaining ecosystem where everything, from plumbing to energy, works in harmony with the environment.
A place without rush. A place where you can finally hear the silence.
Our project is an invitation to slow down and explore a new way of living through architecture that blends seamlessly with the land.
We’re open to collaborations with nonprofits and community initiatives, and we support those in need. We believe that small businesses can be a force for good. If you would like to see this project come to life, please support us.

Our retreat cabins are designed with inspiration from nature.
Where Design meets Nature.

Retreat in the Wilderness
Architecture that belongs to the forest — not one that breaks it. We seek a balance between human presence and nature. That’s why our cabins are designed to minimize impact on the wild land: raised on ground screw foundations to protect root systems and soil. We use sustainable materials and off-grid solutions for water and energy wherever possible.
One of the project’s architectural highlights is the A-frame lightweight structure with glass facades, offering views of the forest and blurring the line between indoor and outdoor space. Every decision, from layout to lighting, is guided by the surrounding landscape.

Power Technologies Inspired by Water
Water is at the heart of ISLEWOOD. We draw energy not only from nature, but from its movement. Small-scale hydroelectric systems breathe life into the project, turning the stream’s flow into clean, renewable power.
We don’t aim to conquer nature — we aim to listen
Hydropower — warm light born from flowing water
Rainwater collection and filtration — care in every drop
Composting toilets and gentle greywater systems
Energy-efficient materials and autonomous heating
ISLEWOOD is a place where nature remains the chief architect.
